This Guitar was done for Katie, a close family friend of ours. She wanted her story carved to represent her deep love for her family, the ocean, and her ancestors.
Each piece of this design speaks to one of those essential parts of her life. Among the themes etched into the Guitar, there are three specific symbols I would love to share with you. The first symbol is the whale swimming across the front of the design, almost weaving through the pattern. The whale represents Katie and her love for the ocean; it also symbolizes her ability to roll with the changing tides of life, always finding the strength to push on. The second symbol is the two spoons and the bowl on the front bottom section of the design; this represents Katie's grandmother always serving and showing love to others, and lastly, the four birds and the moon located on the back of the Guitar represent her four children and her husband.
Everyone has a story, and it deserves to be told. Although this isn't my usual style, it remains to tell the history of Katie's life. The inspiration behind the majority of the pattern is Scandinavian.
I hope you enjoyed this piece, and if you want to preserve and capture your story, I'd love to know more.
